Roger Bresnahan and Jimmy Archer photograph

Date1913
DescriptionA full-length black-and-white photograph of Roger Bresnahan and Jimmy Archer. Both players, standing posed for the photograph, wear Chicago Cubs road uniforms. Standing with feet apart and arms down by their sides, both Bresnahan and Archer wear a glove on their left hand; Archer holds a ball in his right. Bresnahan, left, looks forward smiling, establishing eye contact with the camera. Archer, right, also smiling, directs his gaze to a point to the right of the camera. Captured on the field, a partially occupied stadium can be seen in the background. A caption along the bottom edge of the photograph, handwritten in white, reads, "Bresnahan & Archer." Based on the career of Bresnahan, this image was most probably captured during the 1913 season, his first year with the team. The uniform worn by both players, a solid blue uniform with the standing bear logo, dates from 1912.
