Gwynn, wearing a San Diego Padres alternate home uniform, speaks into a microphone held in his right hand as he holds the barrel of the bat he used to record his 3000th hit in his left hand. The notation #3000 is visible on the bat. Gwynn is smiling and looking down at the bat as he talks. Both Idelson and Petroskey, dressed in suits and ties, help Gwynn hold the bat. Idelson, grinning broadly, holds the knob of the bat to Gwynn's left while Petroskey holds the head of the bat. In his other hand, Petroskey holds a pair of cleats and a helmet, both which belonged to Gwynn. Behind the trio can be seen a group of people sitting on chairs in the infield. Also visible is part of the outfield and the outfield bleachers.
