Idelson, left, shown in 3/4 profile, holds in his left hand, that is waist height, the uniform pants that Gwynn wore when he made his 3,000th hit. Holding his right hand chest height, Idelson, smiling, looks forward and down. Petroskey, center, holds in his right hand, that is held waist height, the helmet Gwynn wore when he made his 3,000th hit. Looking down and to his right. Petroskey extends his hand to hold the cleats, that Gwynn offers, also worn on this day. Gwynn, right, shown in profile, wearing a San Diego Padres alternate uniform, stands behind a lectern with the San Diego Padres team name and alternate 'swinging friar' logo on the front. Gwynn, in his right hand, holds a microphone chest height. In his left, he holds the pair of cleats that he offers in the direction of Petroskey. While doing so, Gwynn looks forward and down. Behind this group several people sitting in the infield are visible. An occupied stadium can also be seen in the distance. Based on the nature of this ceremony, this image was taken after August 6, 1999, the day Gwynn completed his 3,000th hit.
