DescriptionRed leather shoes with white inset star and stripe detailing on both the inner and outer sides along with white laces. Oversize tongues extend down over the top portion of the laces and have a white manufacturer label. Heel uppers have a white inset star. Bottom soles are light brown plastic with six metal spikes and "893" handwritten in black ink in the center of both shoes. "L.B." is handwritten in red ink on the interior of the right shoe.
Bio/Historical NoteWearing these shoes on August 29, 1977, Lou Brock notched his 893rd career stolen base, passing Ty Cobb for most steals since the introduction of the modern stolen base rule in 1898. New research has increased Cobb's total to 897 stolen bases, a number Brock passed on September 22, 1977.
