Curt Schilling World Series shoes

Date2004 October 23-27
DescriptionBlack leather shoes, size 12, with black laces and white detailing on both the inner and outer sides. Right shoe has additional rubber toe reinforcement. Oversize tongues extend down over the laces to attach with hook-and-loop fasteners and have a manufacturer logo embroidered in white at the top. The laces come through holes in the tongue to tie at the top. Heels have black, white and gray MLB logos. Right shoe has "K ALS" handwritten in silver ink on the outer side of the ankle. There are MLB Authentication hologram stickers affixed to the side of the heels of both shoes. Bottom soles are black plastic with "Reebok" in the center in white lettering and six metal spikes.
Bio/Historical NoteShoes worn by Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling during the 2004 World Series against the St. Louis Cardinals. The Red Sox defeated the Cardinals by four games to none in the best-of-seven series. The series win was the Red Sox's first title in 86 years. With the win, Schilling became only the fifth pitcher to ever win a World Series game with a team from both leagues, having previously done it with National League teams, the Philadelphia Phillies in 1993 and the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2001. Schilling wrote “K ALS”—strikeout ALS—on the right shoe, where he knew TV cameras would be trained.
