DescriptionGold Pittsburgh Pirates 1971 World Series championship ring that was given to Commissioner Bowie Kuhn. The ring has a rounded, rectangle face that features a circular-shaped diamond set in black stone and surrounded by a raised border. The outer part of the border reads "World Champions" while the inner reads "Pittsburgh 1971." One arm has "Pirates" in a banner above the Pirates' logo. The other arm has "Kuhn" in a banner above an image of Three Rivers Stadium and a ball and two crossed bats.
Bio/Historical NoteThe Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Baltimore Orioles four games to three to win the 1971 World Series. Bowie Kuhn served as Major League Baseball's fifth commissioner from 1969 to 1984, and was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2008.
