DescriptionA black-and-white full-length photograph of Tommy John pitching. John, captured mid-action, wears a long sleeve shirt underneath a New York Yankees road uniform. Contorting his body, facing the camera, John plants his back left leg on the pitcher's mound while stepping out with his front right leg. Captured mid-stride, John's right foot hovers slightly off the ground. Adopting a modified lunge position, John looks forward, in the direction in which he is throwing the ball. Gripping the baseball in his back left hand, John raises his bent right arm shoulder height, with his hand extending upwards. In contrast, John raises his front right arm shoulder height but his right hand, that is wearing a baseball glove, extends downwards. The pointer finger of John's right hand is visible outside of the glove. Captured in-game, an occupied stadium is visible in the background behind third base. A caption above the photo (not shown) reads, "New York Yankees' pitcher Tommy John is shown here 9/8 as he pitched 8 2/3 innings against the Toronto Blue Jays for his 20th win of the year. The Yankees defeated the Blue Jays 7-4."
