He is wearing an unidentified baseball jersey. A newspaper caption affixed to the back of the photograph (not shown) states, "Joe Tinker (above), who gained fame, in baseball as a member of the Chicago Cubs' Tinker-to-Evers-to-Chance double play combination, is seriously ill in Orange General Hospital, Orlando, Fla.; Feb. 9." A date stamp on the reverse (also not shown) indicates the caption is from 1944 but the date of the image is unknown.
