DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Nellie Fox and Hank Bauer. Fox, left, is captured lunging in an attempt to tag Hank Bauer out at second base. Bauer is sliding just outside of Fox's reach towards second base. Fox is dressed in a Chicago White Sox home uniform, whereas Bauer is dressed in the New York Yankees road uniform. The caption on the front of the photograph (not shown) states, "It looks like Hank Bauer (9) is going to be an easy out in third inning today but the New York Yankee outfielder squirmed past the outstretched arm of Chicago White Sox second baseman Nellie Fox to reach second safely. Bauer stole second as Cletis Boyer struck out. Fox took throw from catcher Earl Battey. Action came in first game of twin bill." The caption on the reverse of the photograph (also not shown) states, "Yankee Speed - Hank Bauer beats try for putout by Nellie Fox, of White Sox, as he steals second in third inning of first game at Chicago." Based on the caption, this photograph was taken on August 23, 1959.
