DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Bob Feller visiting his mother in the hospital. Feller, wearing a suit, leans over his mother who is lying in a hospital bed with a bandage and a hot water bottle on her head. Feller, shown from the waist up, rests his left arm on the headboard of her bed while focusing his attention downwards. To his right stands his sister Marguerite and his father William Andrew. Pasted on the reverse (not shown), typed in black ink, is the caption that reads, "FROM NEW YORK CAUTION:USE CREDIT. FELLER VISITS INJURED MOTHER BOB FELLER, AFTER PITCHING THE CLEVELAND INDIANS TO A 9-4 VICTORY OVER THE CHICAGO WHITE SOX IN CHICAGO, MAY 14, WENT IMMEDIATELY TO THE HOSPITAL BEDSIDE OF HIS MOTHER, WHO WAS STRUCK ON THE FOREHEAD BY A FOUL TIP FROM MARVIN OWEN'S BAT IN THE THIRD INNING. WITH BOB AT HIS MOTHER'S SIDE ARE HIS FATHER, WILLIAM FELLER, AND HIS SISTER, MARGUERITE, 10. THE FELLER FAMILY CAME TO CHICAGO FOR THE GAME FROM THEIR VAN METER, IOWA HOME."
