DescriptionA black-and-white full-length photograph of Grover Cleveland Alexander and Ernie Shore shaking hands. Alexander, right, wears a Philadelphia Phillies home uniform and sweater. Alexander holds a bat with his left hand against his left side and rests the end cap on the ground. He extends his right hand to shake Shore's hand. Turning his head to his left, Alexander directs his gaze to a point in the distance and to the right of the camera. Shore, left, wears a Boston Red Sox road uniform and coat. He looks in the same direction as Alexander. The markings on the surface of the photograph are not original and exist as modifications made for publication. Based on the uniforms and careers of both players, this image was captured in 1915. Pasted on the reverse (not shown) is a newspaper clipping of the published caption for this image which reads "Ernest Shore, of Boston, and Grover Cleveland Alexander, of Philadelphia."
