DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of, from left to right, Dick Groat, George Sisler, Bob Skinner, Bill Virdon and Hank Foiles standing. Groat has his hand in his back pocket and is looking out of the corner of his eyes with a slight smile on his face. Sisler is looking down at the bat that he is holding out in front of him with a grimace on his face. Skinner is smiling while looking down at the bat. Virdon is looking at Sisler with a smile on his face. Foiles is looking towards Sisler and has his baseball glove on his left hand. Groat, Skinner, Virdon and Foiles are dressed in Pittsburgh Pirates home uniforms. Sisler is dressed in plain clothing. A newspaper caption affixed to the back of the photograph (not shown) states, "George Sisler, Hall of Fame first baseman and presently a Pittsburgh club executive, talks batting with Pirate players, Dick Groat, Bob Skinner, Bill Virdon and Hank Foiles at Fort Myers, Fla., camp. Rain yesterday all but stopped activity." Based on the players' uniforms and their time with the Pirates, this photograph was probably taken in 1956.
