DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of, from left to right, Howie Schultz, Ed Stevens, George Sisler, Jackie Robinson and Tommy Brown captured standing in a dugout. Sisler is wearing a trench coat and fedora hat and has a large grin on his face as he holds a baseball glove in his hand. Schultz and Stevens are looking down at the glove in Sisler's hand and Schultz has a baseball in his hand. Robinson and Brown are looking towards Sisler. Schultz, Stevens, Robinson and Brown are dressed in Brooklyn Dodgers home uniforms. A caption on the front of the photograph (not shown) states, "Apr. 24--George Sisler (center), one of baseball's greatest first basemen when played with the St. Louis Browns discusses first base play with four Brooklyn Dodger first basemen at Ebbets Field, Brooklyn, before yesterday's game with the Philadelphia Phillies. The Dodgers engaged Sisler to coach the team's first sackers. Left to right: Howie Schultz, Ed Stevens, Sisler, Jackie Robinson and Tom Brown. 47" Based on this caption, the photograph was taken on April 23, 1947.
