George Sisler, Dick Groat, and Possibly Vern Law photograph

Dateprobably 1959
DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of, from left to right, Dick Groat, George Sisler and a player who is probably Vern Law captured standing with one another while watching practice during spring training for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Groat is looking down at his teammates playing. Sisler has a large smile as he looks on. Law is leaning forward with a small smile on his face. Groat and Law are dressed in Pittsburgh Pirates home uniforms. A newspaper caption affixed to the back of the photograph (not shown) states, George Sisler (right), famous first baseman, right at home in Pirates' dugout alongside infielder Dick Groat as they watch Bucs drilling at Fort Myers, Fla." Based on a date stamp on the reverse (also not shown), this photograph was probably taken in 1959.
