DescriptionA black-and-white full-length photograph of Fred Clarke standing in uniform. Clarke, shown in 3/4 profile, wears a Pittsburgh Pirates road uniform. Standing with feet apart and both arms down by his sides, Clarke wears a glove on his left hand and holds a baseball in his right. Rotating his upper body to his left, Clarke looks forward, directing his gaze to a point above and to the right of the camera. Captured on the field, the stadium wall is visible in the background. Portions of Clarke's uniform have been outlined to appear more legible for publication. Based on the specific design of the uniform worn by Clarke, solid color socks and a dark long sleeve shirt under his jersey, this image was captured during 1900, the only year during which Clarke played for Pittsburgh that they wore this style.
