Johnny Evers photograph
Date1920
DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Johnny Evers, pictured from the chest-up, wearing a New York Giants home game uniform from his brief time as a manager. Based on Evers' career and the details of the uniform, the photograph was taken in 1920. The caption on the reverse (not shown) reads, "Old Time Player Makes American League Debut. Johnny Evers, old time National Leaguer, made his debut as a player in the American League, at Cleveland, by 'kidding' four straight balls from Morton pitching for Cleveland. The walk came in the first inning and forced in the fourth Sox run. Evers was playing second base in place of Eddie Collins who was out as the result of an injury, and the Trojan displayed all his old-time pep."
