DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Mel Ott captured pointing something out to three baseball spouses. They are identified as, from left to right, Mildred Ott, Jane Matthewson, and Blanche McGraw. Ott has a serious expression on his face and his eyebrows are furrowed as he points to something in the distance. The three women are captured looking in the direction where Ott is pointing. Ott is dressed in a New York Giants road uniform. An unidentified stadium is in the background. Two unidentified gentlemen are also in the background. A caption on the back of the photograph (not shown) states, "Mel Ott, manager of New York Giants, watches his club in training at Phoenix, Ariz., Mar. 2, with (left to right) Mrs. Ott, Mrs. Christy Mathewson, wife of the former great pitcher, and Mrs. John McGraw, wife of the late Giants manager." Based on Ott's uniform and a date stamped on the reverse (also not shown), this photograph was probably taken in 1947.
