Bio/Historical NoteGlove used by Art Beltrone, former Newsday sportswriter and reporter, while playing baseball games in Venezuela and the United States as part of a baseball goodwill exhibition matchup between Venezuela and the United States in 1973. Beltrone was on a team of New York sportswriters, organized by Joe Donnelly of Long Island Newsday, after receiving an invitation from noted Venezuelan sports journalist, Juan Vene, to play games against a team he managed there, "Guaicaipuro de Oro." Three games were played in Venezuela, with the first two games being won by Guaicaipuro, 8-5 and 6-3 respectively, and the third game won by the American team, 4-3. Later in 1973, the Venezuelan team traveled to the United States where three games were also played at West Point, Yankee Stadium and Shea Stadium.
