DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Connie Mack, left, and Will Harridge, right, as Mack is presented with a plaque honoring his fifty years spent as a manager in the American League. Mack and Harridge are looking each other in the eyes as they each hold the plaque. The plaque features a baseball that has engraving on it. Ed Barrow is visible in the background. Yankee Stadium is also visible in the background. A newspaper clipping is affixed to the back of the photograph (not shown) (not shown)and states, "'Greatest day of my life' These were the words of Connie Mack (left), 86, who met some of his old-time stars and was feted by the public on 'Connie Mack Day' at Yankee Stadium, Aug. 21. Here Mr. Baseball receives a plaque from Will Harridge, American League President, in commemoration of the former's 50 years as a manager in the league." Based on the newspaper clipping this photograph was taken on August 21, 1949.
