All the gentlemen are dressed in suits and have large grains on their faces. A newspaper clipping is affixed to the back of the photograph (not shown) and states, "Detroit Congratulates Connie Mack Connie Mack (second from left) was honored in Philadelphia May 17, which was proclaimed a day in his honor. A framed greeting from the Detroit City Council was presented to the 79-year-old manager of the Philadelphia Athletics by Walter O. Briggs, Jr., vice president of the Detroit Tigers Club (right). Will Harridge, president of the American League (left) and Mayor Robert Lamberton, of Philadelphia (third from left), look on at the presentation.5/17/41."
