Tris Speaker Batting photograph

Datebetween 1916 and 1919
DescriptionA black-and-white full-length photograph of Tris Speaker batting. Wearing a Cleveland Indians road uniform, Speaker is depicted in his follow through position. Twisting his upper to his right, Speaker stands in a modified lunge position. In placing his left hand over his right on the grip of the bat, Speaker holds the bat waist height, above his front right leg. Speaker looks forward, to a point in the distance and to the right of the camera. Captured in-game, an occupied stadium can be seen in the background. Based on the specific design of the uniform worn by Speaker, this image was captured between 1916, when Speaker joined the team, and 1919, the final year during which Speaker played that Cleveland wore pinstripe home uniforms.
