DescriptionMottled gray and blue flannel short-sleeve shirt with "Chicago" in black appliques across the front chest. There are seven buttons down the front placket. There is a manufacturer label at the interior back collar. "Fox" and "2" are appliqued in black lettering on the back side of the shirt. "2" is appliqued in black on the proper right sleeve. There is a tag on the interior proper right side of the front placket near the bottom, reading "Set 2 / 1960." "40" is stamped in faded black ink on the proper left bottom interior of the shirt.
Bio/Historical NoteChicago White Sox road uniform shirt worn by Nellie Fox in 1960. These were the first road uniforms to include a player's name on the back, a change made by partial owner of the White Sox, Bill Veeck. Nellie Fox, a fifteen time All-Star, played with the White Sox for the majority of his career. Fox was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1997.
