DescriptionA half-length black-and-white portrait photograph of Fred Clarke. Clarke, shown from the chest up, wears a Pittsburgh Pirates jersey and baseball cap. Looking forward, Clarke establishes eye contact with the camera. The circle surrounding Clarke's face is not original and indicates where the image to is to be cropped for publication. Several arrows and handwritten phrases can be seen on the jersey of Clarke, existing as further modifications made for publication. Based on the specific design of the uniform worn by Clarke, a pinstripe jersey with the letter 'P' on the collar, this image was captured during 1913 or 1914, the two years that Pittsburgh wore this style.
