Bob Feller, Rollie Hemsley, and Lou Boudreau photograph

Date1941 May 13
DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Bob Feller with teammates Rollie Hemsley, left, and Lou Boudreau, right. Feller, wearing a Cleveland Indians home uniform and wool jacket is shown seated between his two teammates. While sitting, Feller rests his forearms on his thighs and looks to his left smiling at his teammate Boudreau. Both teammates lean in smiling at Feller. Based on the included background and the manner of dress of the players, this photo was taken in the locker room at Cleveland Stadium after the completion of the game against the Yankees. Pasted on the reverse (not shown) is a newspaper clipping of this photo with the headline and caption, respectively, that reads, "Feller's Tribe's Chief Hatchet Man ROCHESTER TIMES-UNION Sports Wedn(...) 14, 1941 (...) Bobby Feller, center, cut 'em down again for Cleveland Indians yesterday. This time it was the Yankees. With Rollie Hemsley, left, behind plate, Bob went 10 innings until Lou Boudreau, right, smashed one of Marius Russo's pitches over the fence for a 2 to 1 triumph." Stamped on the reverse (not shown) in purple ink is the date MAY 14 1937, the publication date of this image.
