Bob Feller Signing Contract with Hank Greenberg photograph

DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Bob Feller seated at a desk with Hank Greenberg, the Cleveland Indians' general manager. Feller, shown from the waist up wears a suit and tie. Feller's left arm is extended and rests on the desk before him. In his left hand is a pen that is placed on the contract he is about to sign. With his right arm Feller leans his weight on the arm of the chair, his body is turned slightly away from camera and his gaze is directed straight ahead. The background has been whitewashed and the red markings in the upper corners of the photo indicate where this photo is to be cropped upon publication, neither are original to the photo. Pasted on the reverse (not shown), typed in purple ink, is a caption that reads, "SMP . . . . . . . . . . . NEW YORK BUREAU BOB FELLER SIGNS HIS 17TH CLEVELAND, O.:- PITCHER BOB FELLER HAS HIS TONGUE IN CHEEK, BUT IT NO DOUBT DOESN'T MEAN A THING, AS HE PREPARES TO SIGN HIS 1955 CONTRACT WITH THE CLEVELAND INDIANS. GENERAL MANAGER HANK GREENBERG SHOWS HIM THE DOTTED LINE. IT'S HIS 17TH CONTRACT WITH THE INDIANS, AND FELLER IS REPORTEDLY RECEIVING $30,000 IN 1955. Also on the reverse (not shown), stamped in black ink is "USED JUL 14 1956 1st EDITION."
