Bing Miller Posed Batting photograph

Date1929 or 1930
DescriptionA black-and-white full-length posed batting photograph of Bing Miller. Miller, shown in 3/4 profile, with his left side angled away from the camera, wears a Philadelphia Athletics home uniform. Depicted in his follow through position, Miller stands on his left leg, while extending his right leg backwards. Only the toe of his right cleat touches the ground. Placing right hand over left on the grip of the bat, resting it on his left shoulder, Miller holds the bat parallel to the ground. Looking forward, Miller directs his gaze to a point to the right of the camera. Captured on the field, a partially occupied stadium can be seen in the background. Based on the specific style of the uniform worn by Miller, this image was taken during the 1929 or 1930 season, the only two years, during which Miller played, that Philadelphia wore socks with three stripes. Two additional copies of this photograph, both with the same cropping, exist.
