Tony Gwynn Running slide
Date1983 September
DescriptionA full-length action color image of Tony Gwynn running to first. Gwynn, shown in 3/4 profile, wears a San Diego Padres home uniform, batting gloves, and helmet. Captured mid-step, having just made contact with the ball, Gwynn supports his weight on his bent, back left leg, while his bent, front right leg is lifted slightly off the ground. Only the toe of Gwynn's left cleat touches the ground. Leaning forward, Gwynn turns his head to his left, to look at a point in the distance and to the right of the camera. Holding his left arm, that is bent at the elbow, along his left side, Gwynn extends his right arm straight, along his right side. Gripping the bat with his right hand, Gwynn holds the bat parallel to the ground, knee height. Captured in-game, an occupied stadium and dugout can be seen in the background. The creation date of this image was provided by the donor.
