Letter from George Sisler to Curt Vander Schaaff

Date1973 March 01
DescriptionA typed letter from Geroge Sisler to Curt Vander Schaaff, March 1, 1973. Sisler is answering a fan's letter regarding his thoughts on the greatest pitcher, Walter Johnson and hitter, Ty Cobb. Sisler writes that Babe Ruth is the greatest all-around player. His greatest thrill was as a pitcher just out of University of Michigan, winning from Walter Johnson in St. Louis, 2-1. He writes that he is against the designated hitter as he believes in the all-around ability in players. It is signed "Best Wishes in your project," and signed in blue ink, George Sisler. The letterhead reads "Mr. George H. Sisler, 1705 Pine Hill Drive, St. Louis, Missouri, 63131." The verso (not shown) is blank.
