DescriptionGold-colored pinback medal with "Detroits" engraved into a pin bar at the top with gold crossed bats and ball decor beneath. Three gold link chains suspend a diamond-shaped medal inscribed "First Winner of the Dauvray Cup" surrounding a raised depiction of a batter. A laurel design frames the bottom edges of the medal. The reverse is inscribed in cursive lettering "H. Richardson / L.F. & 2nd B."
Bio/Historical NoteIn 1887, the National League-winning Detroit Wolverines defeated the St. Louis Browns, champs of the now-defunct American Association, in a postseason World Championship series. The victorious Wolverines players received these medals, donated by actress Helen Dauvray.
