DescriptionGold-colored circular metal medal with a raised depiction of a baseball player in the center with a laurel wreath behind the head, "Awarded To" in raised lettering at the base of the torso and "The National Baseball League Most Valuable Player / Arthur C. Vance 1924" in embossed lettering around the perimeter. Reverse is blank with manufacturer information stamped at the bottom center.
Bio/Historical NoteAfter a nine-year hiatus, the National League reinstituted a Most Valuable Player Award in 1924 and presented it to Brooklyn hurler Dazzy Vance. That year, the future Hall of Famer not only took pitching Triple Crown by leading the Senior Circuit in wins, strikeouts and ERA, he also topped the league in complete games.
