Dottie Hunter first baseman's mitt

DescriptionBrown leather left-handed first baseman's mitt with one main finger stall and a thumb stall connected by one piece of leather and lacing. The glove is held together by laces and black grommets throughout. The back side of the glove has a wrist strap with grommets and laces for size adjustment. Under the wrist strap is a red "Spalding" label. The palm side of the glove has an extra piece of leather in between the thumb and main stall, for additional reinforcement.
Bio/Historical NoteGlove used by Dottie Hunter of the Racine Belles and Kenosha Comets of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League in 1943. From 1944 to 1953 she was a chaperone and counselor for the Grand Rapid Chicks.
