DescriptionRectangular wooden base with an upright square wooden pedestal flanked by two tapered wooden pieces and a large copper-colored metal baseball on the top of the pedestal. Front of the wooden pedestal has a yellow plate held in place with four screws, with names etched in black lettering underneath "U.S. Marine / Champs / 1944."
Bio/Historical NoteBaseball helped maintain troop morale at home and overseas during World War II. The Marine Detachment team at the Oak Knoll Naval Hospital in Oakland, CA, won this simple championship trophy in 1944.
