DescriptionRed nylon chest protector with center area covered in mesh fabric and black nylon accents at the waist. Top center has a patch with red and gold lettering, "All-Star." Black padded throat protection has stitched red lettering, "TEK." Proper left side bottom has two manufacturer flag tags, a warning label and "Aegis Microshield." Proper right shoulder has hinged shoulder protection of thick padding attached with hook-and-loop straps. Black adjustable straps are connected to black fabric covered foam. White lettering on the back of the pad, "A˜/ CP 28Pro." Underside of the pad has white lettering, "Delta Flex All-Star / Ultra Cool Venting System."
Bio/Historical NoteChest protector worn by Jason Varitek of the Boston Red Sox on May 19, 2008 when pitcher Jon Lester threw a no-hitter. With this game, Varitek became the first catcher to catch four no-hitters in his career.
