Christine Wren chest protector

DescriptionCream-colored canvas chest protector with plastic caps for shoulders and padded torso. Reverse side, worn closest to body, has three additional padded sections running vertically to protect the breastbone and ribs. T-strap in the back with "Wilson" on area where straps converge. "A3314" is stamped on the back strap. The straps have been altered and sewn to fit the wearer (donor did this herself). Buckles are in place to allow for sizing. Strap running horizontally around back of waist clips into the protector on each side with hooks.

Bio/Historical NoteChest protector worn by Christine Wren, the second woman to complete an approved umpire school and be assigned to a professional baseball league, throughout her professional career. Wren umpired from 1975 to 1978.
