DescriptionA black-and-white 3/4 photograph of Bob Feller with Bob Turley, pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles (1951-1963). Feller, wearing a Cleveland Indians home uniform, stands with his hands on his hips facing the camera. Feller wears on his left hand a baseball glove. Instead of establishing eye contact with the camera Feller looks down at the baseball that Turley holds in his left hand. Various contour lines, as seen in the extended arm of Turley, have been enhanced to appear more visible upon publication. Based on the included background this photo was taken in the interior of Cleveland Stadium, Cleveland OH. Pasted on the reverse (not shown), typed in black ink, is a clipping of the original newspaper caption that reads, "Bob Turley (left), whose fast ball has been compared with that Bob Feller, all-time strikeout king, poses before the Indians-Orioles game in Cleveland. Feller won his 250th major-league victory in the first game yesterday and Turley started for Orioles in the second." Stamped on the reverse (not shown) in purple ink is the date "MAY 24 1954" along with the phrase, "EARLY BIRD," indicating the publication date of this image.
