Pasted on the reverse (not shown), a caption, typed in black ink, reads, "BALLPLAYER DIES JESSE C. BURKETT, 82, A MEMBER OF BASEBALL'S HALL OF FAME, DIED MAY 27, AT BELMONT HOSPITAL IN WORCESTER, MASS. HE HAD A LIFETIME BATTING AVERAGE OF .342 DURING HIS BIG LEAGUE CAREER WHICH ENDED IN 1905." Stamped on the reverse, in pink ink, is the date, "MAY 28 1953." Based on the provided caption, this image was captured around 1950.
