DescriptionA black-and-white full-length photograph of Bob Feller posed within an office. Feller, wearing a suit, tie, and pocket square, stands facing the camera with his left arm by his side and his right arm extended in front. In his right hand Feller holds a rolled up piece of paper. Feller leans slightly forward while smiling and looking to his right, in the direction of the two girls sitting on the desk. Both of these women sit on the desk with their ankles crossed smiling and looking at Feller. Pasted on the reverse (not shown), typed in purple ink is a caption that reads, "HD I . . . . . . . . . NEW YORK BUREAU HOW TO MAKE A PITCH HARTFORD, CONN.:- CLEVELAND INDIANS' PITCHING STAR BOB FELLER SHOWS TRAVELERS INSURANCE COMPANY EMPLOYEES BARBARA WATERMAN (LEFT) AND JOAN DONOVAN HOW TO MAKE A PITCH WITH A COUPLE OF INSURANCE POLICIES DURING HIS VISIT TO THE COMPANY'S HOME OFFICE TO WIND UP A BUSINESS DEAL IN WHICH HE'LL BECOME AN INSURANCE AGENT IN CLEVELAND. 2/2/56 (DB)." Based on the stiff, posed nature of the photo along with the provided caption, this photo was created specifically for the press. On the reverse (not shown), stamped in red ink is the date, "EB-8 1956," the probable publication date of this image.
