DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Jimmie Foxx holding the 1932 American League MVP award. Foxx, facing the camera, wears a leather letterman-style jacket, featuring the Philadelphia Athletics white elephant logo, over his Athletics uniform. Looking forward, establishing eye contact with the camera, Foxx holds the award, with one hand on each handle, waist height in front of his body. Visible in the background are several other players, also in uniform. Pasted on the reverse (not shown), typed in purple ink, is a caption that reads, "STILL A VALUABLE GUY NEW YORK CITY: SHOWN WITH THE MOST VALUABLE PLAYER AWARD HE RECEIVES AFTER THE APRIL 20TH GAME OF 1933, JIMMY FOXX, A MEMBER OF THE BASEBALL HALL OF FAME, IS TODAY A VALUABLE MEMBER OF SOCIETY, WITH NOBLE IDEAS PUT INTO ACTION ON HOW TO PREVENT POTENTIAL JUVENILE DELINQUENCY. THE AMERICAN LEAGUE RIGHT-HANDER WHOSE HOME RUNS PUT HIM WELL INTO THE RUNNING WITH THE MIGHTY BABE RUTH, HAS A THRIVING WHOLESALE MEAT BUSINESS IN A MIAMI SUBURB, BUT IS NOW ON LEAVE OF ABSENCE ORGANIZING WITH YANKEE OUTFIELDER GENE WOOLDING A PROJECT TO HOLD BASEBALL "CLINICS" FOR YOUNGSTERS WHO MIGHT OTHERWISE GO WRONG. 10/26/54."
