Lefty Grove photograph

DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Lefty Grove captured holding up the trophy he received for be awarded most valuable player in 1931. Grove has a smile on his face. He is dressed in a Philadelphia Athletics home uniform. The trophy he is holding up features a right handed player standing on top of a baseball. A newspaper caption affixed to the back of the photograph (not shown) states, "Lefty Grove holding trophy which was awarded to him for being the most valuable man in the American League in 1931, presented to him at Shibe Park." Based on when he received the award and a date stamp on the reverse (also not shown), the photograph was taken in either 1931 or 1932.
