Nap Lajoie Miniature Golfing photograph

Date1929
DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Napoleon "Nap" Lajoie playing miniature golf in Florida. Lajoie stands on the green of a hole holding a golf-club in a right-handed stance next to the golf ball to line-up his shot. Lajoie stands in front of a grassy mound where presumably his gray cabbie hat rests. Lajoie wears a dark suit with thin, faint light-colored stripes, a white dress shirt, dark dress shoes, and a dark tie with light-colored polka-dots. In front of Lajoie is the golf hole where he aims his shot. Behind Lajoie are streets, white wooden posts, and electrical posts. On the reverse, there is a caption (not shown) that states, "BASEBALL STAR OF YESTERYEAR FINDS NEW DIVERSION--NAP LAJOIE WHOSE RECORD IN MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL WON HIM NICHE AMONG THE IMMORTALS IS SHOWN HERE TRYING HIS TOUCH ON A MINIATURE GOLF COURSE AT ST. PETERSBURG, FLA. THE MINIATURE COURSES ARE FINDING MUCH FAVOR AT WINTER RESORTS SOUTH, MID-WEST, EAST 12-31-29."
