Ted's Out: Ted Williams receives the papers releasing him from active duty with the Marines at Washington today. Col. K.C. Chappel, commandant of the Marine barracks at the Naval Gun Factory, wishes the Red Sox slugger luck." The image caption on the front, below the image reads, "Capt. Ted Williams, left, receives his release from the Marine Corps from Col. K.C. Chappel, Commandant of the Marine Barracks at the Naval Gun Factory, here. The Boston Red Sox slugger will go on inactive duty, and is expected to rejoin his teammates almost immediately."
