Nap Lajoie and Ty Cobb photograph

Date1957
DescriptionA color photograph of Napoleon "Nap" Lajoie posing with Ty Cobb during their retirement from professional baseball. Lajoie stands to the left looking directly at the photographer while Cobb on the right looks to the left of the photographer. Lajoie wears dark pants, a white dress shirt, a dark colored tie with light-colored diamonds, and wire-rimmed glasses. Cobb wears dark pants, a wristwatch with a brown band, a white dress shirt, a dark-colored tie with squares composed of light and dark colors, a metallic set of cufflinks, and a pen in his breast pocket. Lajoie and Cobb are grasping each others hand in a pose implying a friendship or camaraderie. They stand on a grassy area next to a residential road surrounded by trees and power-lines. The location could be near Lajoie's house in Daytona Beach, Florida, but this cannot be determined. The visible age of the two men indicate that this photograph was taken during the 1950s with a note on the reverse (not shown) indicated this photograph was developed, "Week Ending Feb. 2, 1957."
