DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Sandy Koufax captured smiling as he examines his left hand after a game against the New York Mets, where the Los Angeles Dodgers won 3-0.. Koufax is shirtless and has a towel over his shoulder. A newspaper clipping is affixed to the back of the photograph and states, "Sandy Koufax looks at his injured finger in club house after he reeled off his 14th victory of the season for the first place Los Angeles Dodgers late July 12th. The injury forced his removal after seven innings and reliever Larry Sherry came to nail down a 3-0 triumph over the last place New York Mets. Koufax, who pitched a no-hitter against the Mets on June 30th, limited them to three hits in this game and Sherry hurled hitless ball for the final two frames." A second newspaper clipping is affixed to the back of the photograph and states, "Koufax checks troublesome finger." Based on the newspaper clipping this photograph was taken on July 12, 1962.
