DescriptionA black-and-white sequence photograph of Los Angeles Dodgers' pitcher, Sandy Koufax, captured beginning his wind up and release on the pitcher's mound on April 22, 1965 in a game against the New York Mets. The Dodgers beat the Mets 2-1. In the sequence on the left Koufax is slightly bent over and has his left arm over his head. The middle sequence features Koufax looking towards home plate with his left hand held behind his back. In the sequence on the right Koufax has just released his pitch and the baseball is visible in the air. Koufax is dressed in the Los Angeles Dodgers home uniform. A newspaper clipping is affixed to the front of the photograph and states, "In his second start of season (his first start at home) Dodgers' Sandy Koufax limbers up the troublesome left arm which delayed his start this year (L), faces the batter (C), and fires a pitch (R) in 1st inning of Dodger-Mets game 4/22. Koufax earned his second straight pitching victory of the season as Dodgers defeated the New York Mets 2-1 at Dodger Stadium." Based on the newspaper clipping this photograph was taken on April 22, 1965.
