DescriptionA black-and-white sequence photograph of Los Angeles Dodgers' pitcher, Sandy Koufax, captured on the pitcher's mound as he winds up and releases his pitch on August 29, 1963 during a game against the San Francisco Giants. The Dodgers beat the Giants 11-1. In the first sequence on the left Koufax has his right leg lifted high in the air and his hands together in the baseball mitt that is slightly visible behind his leg. In the second sequence in the middle Koufax has his right leg stretched out in front of him and is holding his left arm high above him with the baseball in his hand. In the third sequence on the right, Koufax has just released his pitch and his left leg is up in the air behind him as his left arm crosses in front of his body. The baseball is visible in the air. In all three sequences Koufax is dressed in the Los Angeles Dodgers home uniform. There is a photograph of a digital scoreboard banner above the three sequence photographs that states, "Sandy now has twenty-one wins tops in majors." A newspaper clipping is affixed on the front of the photograph and states, "The scoreboard and action sequence show Sandy Koufax becoming the major leagues' first 20-game winner here 8/29. He pitched a three hit, 11-1 victory for the Los Angeles Dodgers over the San Francisco Giants." A newspaper clipping is affixed to the back of the photograph and states, "Koufax: Start and Windup." Another newspaper clipping is affixed to the back of the photograph and states, "Scoreboard tells the Sandy Koufax story as he goes for his 22nd victory tonight against the Mets at Shea Stadium, maybe just a way stop en-route to a 30-victory season. Dodgers may need it." Based on the newspaper clipping on the front of the photograph this was taken on August 29, 1963.
