DescriptionA black-and-white collage photograph of Sandy Koufax captured on the pitching mound as he goes through his pitching wind up and release during a game against the Cincinnati Redlegs on August 27, 1955. The Brooklyn Dodgers beat the Cincinnati Redlegs 7-0 during this game. In the photograph on the left Koufax is captured looking over his right shoulder with the baseball in his left hand behind him and his mitt pointed out in front of him. In the photograph in the middle Koufax is captured with a serious expression as he concentrates and brings his left arm forward during his wind up. In the photograph on the right Koufax has just released his pitch and his left arm is in front of him. Koufax is dressed in the Brooklyn Dodgers home uniform is all three frames of the collage. An unidentified first baseman is visible in the background. Ebbets Field stadium is visible in the background. A newspaper clipping is affixed to the back of the photograph and states, "In his second start on the Dodger mound, bonus baby Sandy Koufax won his first major league ballgame with a 7-0 victory over the Cincinnati Redlegs. The 19-year-old southpaw's 14 strikeouts set a 1955 recorded for national league hurlers. His winning form is demonstrated in these sequence photos made at Ebbets Field." Based on the newspaper clipping this photograph was taken on August 27, 1955.
