Lou Gehrig first baseman's mitt

DescriptionBrown leather right-handed first baseman's mitt with leather laces lining the entire outer perimeter edge. Thumb stall is connected to the main stall with a newer leather lace woven through leather loops on the sides of the thumb and main stalls. Back side has a manufacturer label in the center with a leather wrist strap below. Wrist strap is woven through slots in the leather and can be tightened for size adjustment.
Bio/Historical NoteLou Gehrig joined an all-star barnstorming tour of Japan in 1935. After his glove was stolen, the Japanese Athletic Association gave him this mitt to finish the tour.
