Looking forward, with his left shoulder angled slightly away from the camera, Gwynn establishes eye contact. Below the photograph (not shown), typed in black ink, is the player's name, "TONY GWYNN." Based on the specific design of the jersey worn by Gwynn, this image was captured between 1985, the year San Diego introduced pinstripe jerseys, and 1994, the final year the Padres wore jerseys without piping around the collar.
