Randy Velarde Unassisted Triple Play glove

DescriptionTan left-handed fielder's glove with four finger stalls and a thumb stall. The finger stalls are connected by a connecting lace that runs through the tips of the finger stalls. The finger stalls and thumb stall are connected by three pieces of leather and laces, which make up the webbing. The back side of the glove has a wrist strap with holes and laces for size adjustment. The back side of the glove also has a series of stamps, including "Randy Velarde," a patch with a gold "W" with a black background, a gold "Wilson" with a black background and a gold trim, "A2000," "Dual-Welting, U.S. Pat. No. 5012529," "Japan ACZ" and another manufacturer patch with the MLB logo on either side. The palm side of the glove also has stamps, including "Wilson," "The A2000," "Grip-Tite Pocket," "Pro-stock" and "1787."
Bio/Historical NoteA's second baseman Randy Velarde achieved fielding immortality at Yankee Stadium on May 29, 2000. With two Yankees runners on the move, Shane Spencer lined a ball toward second base. Velarde used this glove to snare it, and he tagged the runners to complete only the 11th unassisted triple play in major league history.
