DescriptionLarge trapezoidal prism of plastic resin atop a black base with a metal plate on the front that reads "1985 Major League Executive of the Year / John Schuerholz / Kansas City Royals" in gold lettering. In the center of the clear top section of the award is a suspended circular gold medallion of three ballplayers - a player mid-throw, a catcher in a squat with his mitt up, and a batter in batting stance - underneath the logo for The Sporting News. At the bottom of the medallion is engraved "Since 1886." The reverse of the medallion has the Sporting News logo engraved in the center and around the edge, "The First Newsweekly In Sports."
Bio/Historical NoteExecutive of the Year Award given to John Schuerholz by the Sporting News in 1985 for his leadership of the Kansas City Royals.
